A Ten-to-One Afternoon
Start with the number that defines the day. ChuangShi finished the fight with 248 losses and 25 kills to its name - roughly ten hulls traded for every one it took down. Two groups flying under the same banner, Cosmic-Wanderers and Chuangshi College, added 54 and 51 losses respectively. That is 353 wrecks from one side of the ledger alone, before the rest of the field is counted. The other side of the ledger looks very different. Can't park there m8 came out with 85 kills, The Northerners with 76, 0ffline Corporation with 37 and Running with Dogs with 30. Those four organisations between them account for the overwhelming majority of the destruction inflicted in the system. Only the top five organisations on each side are listed here, so this is the visible portion of the field rather than the whole of it. The shape, though, is unmistakable: a four-hour engagement in which one side's wrecks kept landing and the other side's kept being credited.
Forty-Nine Billion ISK in Typhoon Fleet Issues
Whatever doctrine ChuangShi brought to V-3U8T, it was not cheap. The single largest item on the bill is the Typhoon Fleet Issue - the Minmatar's faction-flavoured battleship - at 49.3 billion ISK across the hulls lost. Add Machariels, the Angel Cartel's battleship, at 15.7 billion, ordinary Typhoons at 10.5 billion and a further 8 billion in Zarmazds, and four hull types account for well over half of everything destroyed in the system. That is battleship warfare, which is to say slow, deliberate and unforgiving. A battleship commits the moment it lands; there is no skirmishing, no glancing blow, no easy disengage. When a fleet of them runs into something that outnumbers it or outguns it, the losses do not trickle away - they arrive in batches, which is exactly what 619 kills over four hours looks like. It also means the bill was not really about hulls. Faction battleships are a statement about what an organisation thinks it can afford to replace, and 49 billion ISK of Typhoon Fleet Issues is a very loud statement to have to live with.
Capitals Committed, Structures Gone
Four capitals were destroyed in V-3U8T. The data does not name them, but their presence sets the character of the fight: capitals are the escalation step, expensive to build, painful to move and miserable to lose, and four of them dying in one system is a cost that outlasts the afternoon. No supercapitals are recorded, so this stayed at the level where an alliance spends ISK it hopes it can earn back rather than ISK it cannot. Four structures also came down. In nullsec, anchored structures are usually the reason anyone gathers in the first place - they are where assets live, where timers are set, and where somebody eventually decides the effort of removing them is worth the effort of defending them. Whether that was the case here is not something the data settles, but something anchored in V-3U8T was destroyed repeatedly while the fighting was going on. The combination is what makes a four-hour fight possible at all. Capitals and structures do not die quickly, and neither do the fleets that come to save them.
Everyone Appears on Both Lists
The Northerners killed 76 ships and lost 39. Can't park there m8 killed 85 and lost 22. ChuangShi, working in the opposite direction, killed 25 while losing 248. Read those lists side by side and the neat picture of two fleets facing each other dissolves a little. In a brawl that runs for the better part of four hours in a single system, sides blur. Reinforcements arrive, third parties wander in, and the same organisations end up trading blows rather than lining up cleanly. Killboard attribution credits whichever organisation was on the mail, which is not quite the same thing as knowing who was on which side at any given minute. What the numbers do support is simpler: nobody in V-3U8T got a free afternoon. Even the organisations with the healthiest ratios left hulls behind, and the system stayed busy for four hours because both sides kept finding reasons to stay.
What Was Still There at 16:56
The last thing to die in V-3U8T was not a capital or a battleship. It was a mobile deployable belonging to The Northerners - an item that appears on a field after the fighting has finished, dropped by whoever gets to stay and pick over what is left. Nearly four hours after Chuangshi College's capsule popped, the system belonged to the side that could still undock and work. 168 billion ISK is not a rounding error for any organisation outside the largest blocs, and 248 losses is the kind of total that turns up in recruitment threads and reimbursement arguments for weeks. Between the capitals, the four structures and 49 billion ISK of faction battleships, the afternoon leaves a mark that will be felt long after the wrecks have been salvaged. V-3U8T will remember it as an excellent day for Can't park there m8, The Northerners and everyone flying alongside them. For ChuangShi, Cosmic-Wanderers and Chuangshi College, it is the sort of killboard page you close quietly and hope nobody in the alliance chat links.
