A Frigate Dies and Querious Sends Everyone
The opening loss is almost comically small: a Slasher flown by Chuangshi College, first on the board at 13:53. It is the sort of kill that normally ends a roam rather than starts a battle. Here it appears to have been the fuse. What followed was not a skirmish that got out of hand - the loss feed runs for 161 minutes and reads like a capital_battle throughout, with battleships stacked on top of battleships and four capital-class hulls among the casualties. By the close of play, 774 unique pilots had been recorded in the same system. Whatever P-ZMZV was being fought over, both sides clearly decided early that it was worth more than a frigate.
The ChuangShi Half of the Loss Column
The numbers on the receiving end are brutal. ChuangShi lost 183 ships. Chuangshi College, the sibling organisation, lost another 38. That is 221 hulls between two names that share a badge, which works out at a little over 42 percent of every loss recorded in the entire engagement. Fox of Resistance lost 18 more, and a scattering of unaffiliated pilots filled out the rest. In nullsec there are usually two explanations for a loss spread that wide: either a fleet got committed into somewhere it could not withdraw from, or pilots kept reshipping into a fight that had already stopped being winnable. The data does not say which happened here, and anyone who has flown in Querious knows both are entirely normal behaviour.
Fifty Billion ISK of Typhoon, Give or Take
Where the money went is easy to see once you sort the wreckage by hull. Typhoon Fleet Issues - the missile battleship that nullsec fleets keep coming back to - accounted for 49.3 billion ISK of the losses on their own. Machariels added 15.7 billion, plain Typhoons another 10.5 billion, and 8.06 billion went up in Zarmazds, the Triglavian support cruiser that exists to keep everybody else alive. That last figure is the quiet one worth noticing: when a fleet loses that much of its support wing, the rest of the evening tends to get very short and very loud. Four capital hulls also died in P-ZMZV, along with four structures, which suggests the fight was never purely about ships passing through.
The Northerners Did Their Arithmetic
On the other side of the ledger, The Northerners killed 63 ships and lost 36, which is the kind of ratio that gets quietly screenshotted and posted in the corp channel. Can't park there m8 - a name that reads like a warning sign, and evidently was one - claimed 53 kills. xDECOYx took 25, 0ffline Corporation 23, and Cosmic-Wanderers 22. Cosmic-Wanderers also lost 54 ships, which puts them in both the attacker and victim columns, and The Northerners appear in both as well. This was not a clean two-fleet engagement conducted in tidy ranks; it was the messy, mutual kind of brawl where the same alliance hands out and takes damage in the same hour. The one thing the totals do say plainly is that the ISK flowed predominantly in one direction.
The Last Wolf at 16:34
The final confirmed loss of the night was a Wolf belonging to The Northerners - a reminder that winning a fight and escaping it untouched are two different achievements. Everything before that was attrition: 519 ships over two hours and forty-one minutes, four capitals and four structures written off, and a system in Querious that will be on a lot of pilots' avoid lists for a while. For ChuangShi and Chuangshi College, the following days look like replacing 221 hulls, re-fitting battleships that cost real money, and explaining to leadership how a frigate loss at 13:53 became a 172 billion ISK afternoon. For The Northerners, it looks like a very good night's work and a killboard that speaks for itself. Nothing here reads as a war-ending event - this was one long, expensive evening in one system - but nights like this are how systems get a reputation.
